Apple Pie with Cheddar Cheese Crust

Take your apple pie up a few notches with this recipe! Apple pie with cheddar cheese crust is sweet, savory and so delicious! 

It also is a very tasty combination, with the crispy, juicy apple and the bite of the sharp cheddar cheese. There is nothing quite like a slice of fresh from the oven, warm, apple pie with melty cheese on top. 

-All-purpose flour -Sugar -Salt -Shredded sharp cheddar cheese -Butter, cold and cut into small piece. -Cup cold water -Granny Smith apples. -Cinnamon  -Ground nutmeg -Ground cloves -Ground ginger -Lemon juice -Egg, beaten+water

Ingredients

Preheat oven to 400. In a food processor, pulse 2 1/2 cups flour flour, 1/2 cup sugar, salt and the cheese until well mixed.

Get started!

Add the butter and allow the food processor to run until it becomes a crumbly mixture.

Drizzle in water 1 Tablespoon at a time until the dough comes together. You may not need the full amount of water, depending on humidity.

What's next?

-Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead a few times until smooth. -Divide into four pieces and refrigerate for 1 hour. -Remove from fridge and roll each piece of dough out between two pieces of wax paper.

-Place two of the crusts in the bottom of 9 inch pie pans, pierce all over with a fork. -Make the filling by coring and chopping the apples. Mix in the remaining flour, sugar, spices and lemon juice. -Fill crust with apple mixture.

-Cut the top crusts into 7 strips, and layer over apple pie mixture. Brush with egg and water mixture. -Bake for 45 minutes. If the crust begins to brown too much, cover the edges with aluminum foil or a special crust shield. -Let pie cool completely before serving.
