Perfect for spreading on bread, bagels, or French toast, this delicious blackberry butter is super simple to make!

Bread products like bagels, homemade bread, and French toast are staples for the Frenchman. He loves his carbs, that’s for sure. I wanted a way to dress them up a bit, so the idea came to make a flavored butter for him to spread on there. It eliminates the need for butter AND jelly in many cases.
Well, in my mind it should, anyway.
Real butter freezes beautifully, and this would be a great way to save a berry purchase or harvest! This blackberry butter takes the natural sweetness of the berries, with the rich creaminess of the butter and needs no added sugar.
I give you a delicious homemade whipped butter.
Sweet and creamy, and so easy to make! You’ll want to keep this in your recipe book year round! It melts just like you would expect butter to melt, and it adds so much rich, sweet flavor! Try it on all the bread things!

Some tips for making the best blackberry butter you can:
- Choose fruit in season. This will give the most sweet flavor, without the need for added sugar.
- Make sure the butter is fully softened, so it will whip easier and be more fluffy.
- Roll the blackberry butter in a tight log to keep it all together when freezing. The addition of the fruit to the butter can cause it to separate a bit, and rolling it tight helps to hold it together.
Ways to use your blackberry butter:
To make it easier to spread, bring butter to room temperature for 20 minutes then spread on:
- Homemade bagels
- Honey wheat bread
- French Toast
- pancakes
- muffins
- Buttermilk biscuits
Do I need salted butter or unsalted butter?
If you want to use salted butter, that’s fine, too. In any whipped butter recipe, unsalted is better as it doesn’t overpower the fruit flavor. However, if all you have is regular butter that is salted, it will still work.

Ingredients you need:
- Butter
- Blackberries
- Heavy whipping cream, as needed
Instructions:
- Soften butter at room temperature.
- In a stand mixer, with a flat mixing paddle, add butter and whip on high speed until fluffy.
- Add in blackberries and whip for 20-30 seconds to incorporate. Add heavy cream as necessary to allow for mixing.
- Scoop onto a piece of plastic wrap, and roll into a log.
- Wrap log in aluminum foil, and twist the ends.
- Freeze, then remove to fridge.
