While I can’t guarantee that non avocado lovers will come to “our side” with this, it sure can’t hurt. Loads of creamy avocado, garlic, and fresh lime juice combine with cumin, red onion, and tomatoes for a flavor sensation that is amazing. Perfect for parties, tailgating, or even eating off the spoon!

Ingredients for simple guacamole:

  • ripe avocados
  • red onion, finely chopped
  • garlic
  • dried cumin
  • salt
  • pepper
  • lemon juice
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Cut avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop into bowl.
  2. Mash the avocado with a fork until creamy, yet slightly chunky.
  3. Add onion, garlic, seasonings, and juice. Stir to combine
  4. Stir in chopped tomatoes.

How do you choose a good avocado?

Working with fresh ingredients can make all the difference when cooking. There’s nothing worse than getting an avocado at the store, and finding it all brown inside. When looking for a good avocado, choose one that is bright green, and hard. It will continue to ripen over the next 2-3 days and be perfect.

If you need an avocado that day, choose one that is a bit darker green, but doesn’t “give” when you gently push with your thumb. If the tip is still green when you remove the stem, it’s a good avocado. If the tip is at all brown, then it’s gone bad.
