Getting the best quality food that I can afford to feed my family has always been my priority. When I first found out about Azure Standard, I was honestly skeptical. I had previous issues with ordering food online from other companies, and wasn’t too sure it wasn’t going to be another bad choice.
However, once I got my first order of 25 pounds of buckwheat, 6 cans coconut milk, and a case of fresh pineapple, I was very surprised. It was high quality produce, and very well packed. So, I decided to try again, and my next order was much larger and included gluten free bread and brown rice pasta.
The bread was shipped frozen, and the pasta was well packaged to keep it from getting crushed and broken up. When we ate the bread, we were happy with the quality and flavor of it. I had a case of apples delivered with this order and they were amazing! They were also shipped cold, and lasted almost a month of fresh eating.
When I moved to Texas from Indiana, I thought that I would lose my ability to order from Azure Standard. However, they have areas all over the country for “drops”, and there were several in my area. I was so excited! I could get quality foods in bulk for a very affordable price.

Who are the people behind Azure Standard?
THE STORY OF AZURE STANDARD really begins in 1971 when my family made radical changes in the operation of our 2,000-acre dry-land wheat and cattle ranch.
Our family was caught in the cycle like most farmers, until 1971 when we took our farm out of the chemical cycle “cold turkey,” so to speak. In the first year, the chemical-dependent land only produced a small percentage of what it had formerly produced. At this point most farmers would have gone back to chemical use for economic survival. But, sticking to our convictions, we fought ignorance and lack of information in order to keep on without chemical use. As the years went on, the soil slowly regained its natural fertility.
As a result of farming in this manner, both commercially, and on smaller scale in large gardens and orchards for our own use, our family became healthier.
We began selling this healthier food to others who also wanted to reap the benefits of better nutrition. Our newfound customers soon began asking for different natural and organic products which we didn’t grow here on our farm, but we scrambled to find those products for them. Thus, in 1987, Azure Standard was born.

How do you place an order?
You’ll sign up for a FREE account here, and look for a drop in your area. If there is a drop already, they will help you find one to join. Most drops require members to pick up their orders on delivery day. Some do have storage capacity for their members, allowing them more flexibility in pickup times and are called “anchor drops”.
Each drop will have other members that are a part of it. The number of members differs with the drop, but I have been part of ones as small as 5 members, to over 300 members.
When you join a drop, you will get notification of your cutoff order date, day, and time. This is usually 5-7 days before you get your order. Until that time, you can add, subtract, or change any of your order.
After the cut off time, your order then goes to processing. and is packed. At times, there are items sadly out of stock when they go to pack your order, and you will get notification of that. Your order will arrive on a scheduled day 5-7 days after and you are charged for that order once it ships, to account for out of stock items.

How much do I have to order?
Each drop has several members to help get the minimum amount met. You can order as little or as much as you need for your family. The only caveat is that if you have an order under $30 total, you may be charged a “small order” fee.
How do the drops work?
Your Drop Coordinator will let you know the date, time, and location of your “drop”. Your order will go on the truck with the other member’s of your drop location orders. On pick up day, you will arrive at the predetermined time, and the truck is unloaded.
Some drops have members work together to unload the truck and line the items up according to names of members, others have the drop members stay in the vehicles until their order is unloaded. Check with your drop coordinator on their individual rules.
When you have confirmed that you have the number or items that should have been shipped, you are free to go. Easy peasy.
What if I don’t have a drop near me?
No worries! You can also get your order from Azure Standard delivered via parcel carrier. The shipping fees are very nominal, and are based on the weight of your items.
What kind of items does Azure Standard carry?
They have a wide variety of grocery, personal care, animal care, gardening supplies, and even nutritional supplements. Here’s some of my favorites that are often in my orders:

How often do I get an order via the drop?
Most drops have a 4 week rotation. Every 4 weeks, you have a truck coming to your area. Of course, you can skip any month you would like. There is no pressure at all to have an order each month.
